Light in the Path

At first glance, it might seem that the hardest part of migration is the physical move to a new country. But in reality, many of the deepest challenges begin after the journey is complete.

This period, known as post-migration, often brings with it a profound and complex emotional experience called migration grief—the sense of loss that comes from leaving behind familiar people, places, routines, and identities.

Youngsters and people of other ages, face unique emotional challenges during this transition. As they try to adapt to a new culture, learn a new language, and build a new life, they may also be quietly mourning the loss of their previous world (family, friends, culture, etc.). This emotional burden can affect their self-esteem, identity, mental health and ability to integrate successfully.

Our objective is to boost a light on their paths. To do this, Janela Das Brincadeiras, Go and Glow, and 4th April are developing a learning platform specifically designed to provide tools and knowledge in migration grief, emotional management, personal development and integration techniques. Through accessible information, guided reflections, and practical activities, we aim to empower young people to understand their paths, care for their mental well-being, find strength in their personal development, and facilitate their adaptation process.
